Silk care guide
Silk care guide
Natural silk is a living, delicate fiber. With a few simple steps, your NURMATA scarf will keep its sheen, softness, and color for years — just as it was on the first day.

- Prefer to leave the scarf with a trusted dry cleaner familiar with silk.
- If washing at home, wash by hand only in cold or lukewarm water (maximum 30°C).
- Use a silk detergent or a mild baby shampoo; bleach and enzyme detergents are not allowed.
- Do not soak the scarf for more than 5 minutes, and never wring or twist it.
- To keep the sheen, add a few drops of white vinegar to the final rinse.
- Gently press the scarf between two clean towels to remove excess water.
- Dry it flat or on a hanger, away from direct sunlight and heaters.
- Never use a tumble dryer.
- Set the iron to the silk setting (low heat).
- Iron the scarf from the reverse while it is slightly damp, or place a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the scarf.
- Avoid direct steam and spraying water on the silk so water marks do not remain.
- Keep the scarf folded or rolled in the NURMATA box or a cotton fabric bag.
- Do not use plastic bags; silk needs to breathe.
- Store it somewhere dry, cool, and away from sunlight so the colors do not fade.
- To prevent moths, place cedar wood or a lavender sachet beside the scarf.
Apply perfume, hairspray, and makeup first, and put the scarf on only after they have fully dried; the alcohol in perfume can leave a lasting mark on silk. Also watch that earrings, pins, and rings do not catch the weave of the scarf.
If liquid is spilled, blot the stain at once with a clean, dry cloth and do not rub it. For oil or lasting stains, take the scarf only to a dry cleaner who specializes in silk.
